Star Trek Online
Posted March 7, 2010
on:What?! Star Trek? As an MMO?! What could possibly be better?!
Long gone are the days when I condemed a game simply because it was an MMO. I feel to WoW three, maybe four years ago, and since them I’ve never looked back. Guild Wars, Lineage II, and stupid free MMO’s have all been par for the course. Now comes the newest one: Star Trek Online.
This is a sample of actual game play from the game. And I have to note, space combat is really cool. It tends to be a bit on the easy side, and PvE tends to be balanced for one person instead of a whole group of people, but there is at least a decent amount of strategy involved in ship position, movement, etc.
The thing I like most about the game though is the ability to write Logs. It’s a simple thing, and one that most people probably won’t appreciate, but to be able to file a log under a mission (just like I really was a Star Fleet captain) is beyond exciting. It makes my roleplaying senses tingle.
Still, I’ve only had the game for a few days. We’ll so how I feel with it after my thirty day trial is over.

Real Life Health and Mana Potions
Posted July 12, 2009
on:I couldn’t believe this advertisement. It’s perfect! The real life mana potion is advertised as follows: “You know what this stuff is. With 160mg of caffeine and a good dose of vitamins, Each 50mL Mana Potion will add +160 to your MP and keep you going through epic battles. This 6-pack means you can either mana up your whole party or party up, um, your whole mana? 5-8 hours of smooth energy with a citrus taste and a 24-hour cool-down.”
I couldn’t describe the effects of a real life mana potion myself. Also featured on the sites web page are health potions as well. These are the most amazing drinks I have ever seen for a geek. I really want some.
Forsaken Love

on:This music video is entitled Wrought, and it was put together by Cranius and Legs. I found it on WoW Insider. This is an almost epic story of love, loss, and the willingness to come back even from death for the one you love. I won’t tell you how it ends… that would ruin it. The timing on this video is amazing, everything links up perfect. Also, I don’t know if they were using actual Wow footage or not, I don’t imagine they were, but everything looks amazing, and the depth of emotion the models show is heart wrenching.
Ether Saga FTW
Posted June 1, 2009
on:Wow. And now, I don’t mean the MMO. Not this time. In fact, now I speak of a different MMO.
Here is Ether Saga, a free MMO for all those who want to play. I know what you are thinking: “Free MMO! Those always suck!” And most of the time you’d be right. Before now I’ve never played a free MMO that I’ve even come close to appreciating.
But this one is a little bit different. The plot for the game is not all that great, something about being some sort of Chinese God of the Zodiac trying to save the world. But who plays MMOs for plot? I spend hours on World of Warcraft… and that hardly has a plot at all!
From the second I started creating my character I knew that this game would offer more than I would ever expect from a free game. First of all, it’s adorable. Sometimes people complain about WoW being to cartoony, and if you are one of those people then stop reading here. But if you like absolutely adorable graphics with pretty special effects and incredibly cute pets, then read on.
The game play is similar to WoW… although not quite as good. Monsters tend to stand around in clumps waiting for you to kill them, at least so far. But every moment of the game is full of cuteness… and the graphics are surprisingly good for free. Also… the dance emot is so much better than World of Warcraft’s. If you decide to find me I am on the East Coast server. Character name is Elizanora.
